This week's game saw us welcome Southborough Reserves to Swanmead.
We went into this match without Jack Moore, Leon Piscina and Lewis Locke, who were all away on holiday and Ben Bridges who was still out of action with an ankle injury. Thankfully we were able to welcome back Matt Thompson into the squad.
We started the game with J Faulkner in goal, a back four of Thompson, Herbert, Chambers and Hunt. Teuma, M Faulkner, Bowen and Poore made up the midfield with Warner and Rosier up front. Tadmor and Gurney were this weeks subs.
It was clear from the early exchanges that this was a game that we were never going to lose as unfortunately Southborough were without a number of regulars and arrived with only the bare XI.
Some of our football was at times really quite pleasing. Everyone wanted the ball and appeared comfortable in possession. The only downside is that at times we did try to force the final pass or attempted a pass that wasn't really necessary. However we can be reasonably pleased with a 3-0 victory.
Our goals this week were scored by Glen, an own goal and Dan Gurney and had it not been for some last gasp defending and a decent goalkeeping display, the final score could have been a lot more impressive.
Hopefully we will take forward the good points out of this game into this weeks match, where we again return to cup action and a tough fixture at home to Woodlands. A place in the semi finals of the President's Cup is at stake and in a game where we have nothing to lose but everything to gain, we know that if we play as we know we can, then maybe a cup upset could be on the cards!
