What is mini soccer ?
The principles and rules of Mini-Soccer are similar to those in Association Football, except that the pitches are smaller and there are fewer players on each team. Depending on the age group, the number of players and size of pitch can vary from four a-side for the youngest to seven a-side for the under 10s. The goal size for all age groups is 12ft by 6ft (3.6m by 1.8m)
Benefits
- More touches of the ball to increase participation and enjoyment
- Fewer players on the pitch meaning simpler decisions and better understanding
- Smaller pitches meaning greater concentration and interest among participants
- More individual success leads to more children playing. In the long term, this leads to sustained participation levels beyond this age group
What age can I start ?
You have to be aged at least 6 years old and not older that 9 on 1st September each year; years 2 to 4
Year 2 - Under 7 age group
Year 3 - Under 8 age group
Year 4 - Under 9 age group
Where will I play ?
Coaching and home fixtures are played at our Swanmead ground, Swanmead Way. Tonbridge.
When will I play ?
We meet every Saturday morning between 09.30 and 11.00 between September and April
Will I be safe ?
Football is a sport and very occasionally players get injured. However all sessions are strictly controlled, with the emphasis on enjoyment, improvement and ‘allowing the game to be the teacher‘. All our FA coaches have attended Child Protection courses and are subject to Criminal Records bureau checks to ensure the safest possible environment for our members.
But I’m a girl !
We are keen to encourage all children to start playing football. Boys and girls play in the same teams up to the age of 11.
What about my friends ?
All of our players come from surrounding schools so you will probably know someone. If you don’t know anyone, we are proud of the club’s friendly atmosphere and ability to make all new players and parents welcome. Even so, you are encouraged to bring your friends along.
What about Mum & Dad ?
The club has facilities for parents bringing their children to the club on a Saturday morning. They can enjoy a snack and read the papers in the clubhouse but we do encourage all parents to help wherever possible. The need for support in coaching, refereeing, managing teams and assisting with social functions is critical to a thriving club.
What kit do I need ?
All players are required to wear shin pads and footwear & clothing suitable for the conditions i.e. studded boots and warm clothing during winter. Match kit will be provided as required but if you wish to order some club training and leisurewear please use the form below.
Will I do anything else at the club ?
Invicta holds regular social events, many of which you will be able to attend. Each age group represents the club at annual mini-soccer festivals during the summer.
Are their forms to fill out ?
We ask parents/guardian to complete a membership form which covers medical and image consent and provides contact details in case of emergency. The forms are treated as confidential and not used for any other purpose.
Ok, how do I get started ?
Just turn up on a Saturday morning. Alternatively contact us through the website or phone Mark 07980 683 604
