SUMMARY:Tonbridge Invicta 11 v 0 Larkfield Boys
DESCRIPTION:Whilst the rain eased off for this afternoon kick off\, an
d some pre match forking from the teams groundsman Steve "the turf" Ma
son\, ensured the game was played\, the pitch did cut up down the midd
le and made it difficult for both teams. Invicta took the wind and the
slope in the first period to push home an early advantage against a L
arkfield team who arrived on kick off. The first goal came direct from
a Hermitage corner\, using the wind to good effect on 6 mins. It was
2-0 on 10 mins when Jack Edmeads slid the ball home from 12 yards. Tom
Willers finally made it 3-0 after a couple of earlier opportunties we
nt begging. Before the break Edmeads and Willers both scored their se
conds and a fine Hermitage volley after good work from Thompson made i
t 6-0 at the break. Both Phillips and Stengel had good opening 45 min
utes as did Edmeads who were rested at the break. Larkfield applied th
e pressure in the opening 15 minutes of the second period and penned I
nvicta back and were denied by some excellent tackles from Nicholls an
d the safe hands of Faulkner. Invicta finally got hold of the ball and
some good interplay between Dangerfield and Freke\, allowed Willers
to round the keeper for his hat trick. Further goals followed from Hua
rtson and a deep run from Thompson before Willers finished with 2 more
to take his tally to 5. Overall a commanding performance from Invicta
with all players making excellent contributions in the game.
