Invicta Colts made it two wins in a row with an attacking performance against Borough Green that took them level on points with their opponents.
Tom Willers opened the scoring on 13 mins when Hermitage went clear and his save was parried to give Willers an easy tap in with B Green seeking an offside. Shortly after Hermitage missed a great opportunity but his lob over the keeper went wide.
Borough Green equalised on 27 mins when Kinderman came out for a long ball and Andy Walter nipped in a slotted into an empty net. Within 5 mins Willers cut in from the left and a tidy finish saw Invicta go in 2-1 at the break.
Both teams continued to play football, looking for their wide players with Teddy again causing a handful with his runs. An opportunist 3rd goal for Invicta on 51 mins that saw Willers latch on to a long clearance and outpace his defender to get a typical TW goal and a familiar hat trick.
The game was opening up as both teams pushed forward and it was Invicta defence that looked the stronger to keep out the threat of Borough Green. At 3-1 the next goal was crucial and when Willers was brought down in the box, Hermitage gave Invicta 4-2 lead with 63 mins on the clock.
The impressive Aaron Brown, pulled one back inside 2 mins with a fine individual goal beating four Invicta defenders to slot home.
Despite further chances falling to Willers and Hermitage and an Oli Leigh header crashing against the post it was not until 85 mins that Invicta’s chances created a tap in for Hermitage.
With both forwards firing, the centre of midfield (Austin, Nicholls) looking more solid and Teddy providing a real threat on the left Invicta are starting to find their feet in this league after a poor start.
