Tandridge 7-a-side 2006
Invicta U10s 1 - 1 Orpington
U10s
Orpington won the final 2-0 on penalties after extra
time
After 4 group games and 2 knockout finals Invicta were beaten 2-0 on penalties by Orpington, in the Tandridge League 7-a-side final.
The final was played in atrocious conditions in Edenbridge on Sunday 21 May. The game was played with an excellent sprite with both sides playing open and attractive football. As usual the Spitfires defence held firm with superb performances from Edmund Lines, Gareth Hughes and William Hinton. The first half was end to end with opportunities falling to Ben Skinner and Edward Gill, but both efforts were well saved by their Goalkeeper, which left the first half 0-0.
In the second half Orpington scored early to put the pressure on the Spitfires, but after 3 excellent saves from stand in goalkeeper Sam Carpenter, Edward Gill produce a fantastic run and shot, to put Invicta back in the game.
The game was now becoming stretched and either team could have won it. But neither team scored taking the game into extra time. Once again Invicta held there own with good link up play from Nick Bolam and Man of the Match Gareth Hughes, but the game ended 1-1 and with Invicta miss firing with their penalties, Orpington ran out worthy winners 2-0.
