Tonbridge Invicta Spitfires 8 - 2 Oxted & District Rangers
Date: 8th January 2006
An avalanche of second-half goals ensured that Invicta began the New Year on a high note.
The first period was fairly evenly matched and it was Oxted who took the lead and they managed to hold on until half-time. However Invicta manager Paul Shipley, possibly fearing the chairman’s dreaded vote of confidence, must have given an inspired team-talk as Invicta went goal crazy after the break, with two goals each from William Hinton, Matt Shipley and Ollie Markides, and one each for Sam Carpenter and Ben Skinner. To their credit Oxted never gave up and managed to find the net once more themselves . All the squad put in solid performances in the second half with Edmund Lines and Timmy Ansdell strong at the back and Gareth Hughes dictating matters in midfield. Keeper Joel Scott wasn't particularly busy but looked very assured when called upon.
