Tonbridge Invicta Spitfires 4 - 1 Palace Guard
Date: 6th November 2005
Invicta Spitfires continued their good form against a Palace Guard side that were a player short but who nevertheless put up a fighting performance particularly in the first half before tiring late on.
Guard actually went ahead through a penalty before latest recruit Ollie Markides levelled before the break. Ben Skinner put Invicta ahead early in the second half and it was then that they began controlling the game with some good passing movements from Gareth Hughes, Matt Shipley and William Hinton. This led to the Guard defence being breached on a regular basis and Markides was able to add two further goals to gain an impressive hat-trick and the Man of the Match.
The defence again looked pretty solid with Edmund Lines, Timmy Ansdell and George Marling all winning their share of the ball and keeper Joel Scott commanding his area well. This was a good all round team effort.
The morning was slightly spoilt by the superfluous abuse of the referee by an opposition supporter, something that junior football can do without.
