Darwin A 4 - 1 Tonbridge Invicta Spitfires
Date: 30th October 2005
Invicta went down to league leaders Darwin on Sunday but can feel pleased with their overall performance. Two early goals put Darwin in the driving seat but Invicta rose to the challenge and finished the first period the stronger team. It seemed as though they could get back into the match but a third Darwin goal straight from the restart effectively killed the game off. A fourth was added before William Hinton came up from the back to grab a consolation.
Joel Scott had a solid game in goal, Hinton and Timmy Ansdell put in committed defensive displays and Sam Carpenter’s tenacious midfield showing earned him the man of the match award.
Invicta can take heart from this as the score line flattered the home side and it proved that if all the squad play to their full potential they’re a match for any team in the league.
