Croydon FC 0 - 1 Spitfires
Date: 26th March 2006
An excellent team performance provided Invicta with their second away win on the trot. Playing on a pitch where the ball could not run true, Invicta started brightly and quickly took the initiative with good shots from Ollie Markides and Matt Shipley.
Further chances were hard to come by, but with Will Hinton and Gareth Hughes taking control of the midfield it was inevitable that a goal would come and when it came it was a superb looping volley form 15 yards by Ben Skinner.
Croydon held on until half time without ever threatening the hard working George Marling and man of the match Tim Ansdell.
The second half was hard fought, with exciting play from Invicta, and although Croydon were still in the game they failed to test Joel Scott in the Invicta goal and with the Invicta forwards constantly on the offensive, they came away with the points, which assists their quest for a top 4 finish in their first season of league football.
