Oxted & District Rangers 1 Tonbridge Invicta Spitfires 6
Date: 25th September 2005
Following a disappointing home defeat against Orpington last week Invicta secured their first win of the season away to a spirited Oxted side.
Invicta began brightly with last week's best player, Ben Skinner, again looking lively, and it was he who opened the scoring early on with a good strike. Skinner added the second too, his determination leading to the Oxted keeper fumbling and he followed up to make it 2-0.
Oxted then had their best period of the match and reduced the deficit to 2-1 but Sam Carpenter restored the two goal lead before the break with a good run and shot from the edge of the area.
The second half saw three more Invicta goals, another good strike from Carpenter followed by an Edmund Lines tap-in from a Skinner cross and an own goal from an excellent corner from Matt Shipley.
A good all-round effort by Invicta and a special mention to solid defensive performances from Timmy Ansdell and man of the match George Marling.
