Tonbridge Invicta Spitfires 0 - 0 Orpington Rovers ’B’
Date: 15th January 2006
A case of deja-vu as Invicta and Rovers played out a goalless draw for the second time this season.
The visitors looked the likelier side to score in the first half but Invicta defended well and keeper Joel Scott’s goal was rarely threatened. As has been the case in a number of their matches Invicta looked much stronger and more committed after the break, and Ben Skinner, Matt Shipley and Ollie Markides began troubling the Rovers defence.
Skinner hit the bar with a thunderous effort and Shipley received the man of the match award for a good all-round performance. As usual the defensive trio of Edmund Lines, George Marling and Timmy Ansdell had solid games and William Hinton and Gareth Hughes showed their mettle in the middle of the park.
With two-thirds of the season now complete Invicta hold a comfortable mid-table position and can be pleased with their efforts so far.
