Palace Guard 1 - 4 Spitfires
Date: 19th March 2006
Invicta overcame a very hard pitch and a slow start to win this mid-table clash and put them within touching distance of fourth in the league.
Guard took advantage of the visitors being slow out of the blocks and took an early lead but Invicta gradually got into the game and Ben Skinner equalised before the break. Invicta were now in control but Guard were awarded a somewhat fortuitous penalty, however Joel Scott made a great save and this inspired Invicta to grab the initiative.
Will Hinton grabbed a couple of goals including a lovely back header and keeper Scott scored with a long goal kick that bounced over the Guard keeper, which caused great delight all round. There were several impressive performances particularly in the second half and hopefully Invicta can take this form into the closing stages of the season.
