Pembury 0 - 1 Spitfires
Date: 18th February 2006
In preparation for next season Pembury and Invicta took part in an 11 a-side friendly on Saturday.
The match was played over four 20 minute periods and both teams did well to last the pace, particularly Invicta who only had one sub.
The early exchanges were fairly even, with both teams getting used to the big pitch and the offside rule. However as the match progressed it was Invicta who began to take control. Solid at the back and industrious in midfield they scored the only goal of the game in the third period when Ben Skinner was put through and rounded the Pembury keeper.
Another confident show from Invicta goalie Scott and strong performances from the regular back three of Lines, Ansdell and Marling.
In midfield Carpenter, Hinton and Hughes worked tirelessly and there were solid debuts from Ryan Moran and Adam Moseley. In attack Skinner was always a threat and Shipley and Markides backed him up admirably. In all a very pleasing start to ‘proper’ football.
