Under 12 Hurricanes

by admin last modified 2008-05-05 19:01

This year's Under 12 Hurricanes has truly dedicated players who play in the Crowborough & District league at 11 a side. We have a marvellous group of parents and helpers which makes for a fantastic team spirit and enables the children to really enjoy their football with the Hurricanes. We are now looking ahead to next season and with this in mind we have a small number of spaces at our training sessions, forthcoming friendlies, summer tournaments and also to join up for next season (08/09). If you are interested please get in touch.

2007/08 Season - Crowborough League Under 12s: Division C

This is our first season playing 11 a side.

Our matches this season have continued where we left off last season at mini soccer with  some wonderfully spirited performances showing the strength of our superb team spirit.

Most exciting game so far an excellent 3-2 win over East Peckham in an enthralling match with a last minute winner scored by L. Fuller. With games as dramatic  as this who needs Sky Sports !

The large crowd of parents were joined by many on lookers and passers by in Tonbridge park all enjoying the drama of Under 12's football being played out on a fine Sunday morning.

A 2nd memorable game was the 5-4 win at Langton Green. A tremendous match played in a great spirit by both teams with excitement from start to finish. Pick of the goals a curling lob from well outside the area by L. Poupard in a game notable for each and every member of the team being on top form !

Following a 6-3 defeat at Wadhurst on 14th October, we played Uckfield on 21st October and won 5-3 in a comfortable victory. The highlights included a brilliant header from T. Moore for our 4th goal as part of his hat trick, a great penalty save from S. McMillan, and an all round great performance from man of the match J. Homewood.

In real football winter weather on 28th October we went down 6-2 at home to Rotherfield but still put in a commendable performance with the scores being within just 1 goal until quite late on in the match. Both our goals came from J. Homewood including an excellent lob of the Rotherfield goalkeeper.

Other matches include a 0-8 loss to Ringmer, and a very well deserved 1-1 draw at home to Ashurstwood with L. Fuller coming on as a 2nd half sub to grab the equaliser with an outstanding individual goal, which capped probably the best overall team performance of the season so far.

Our away game at East Peckham on 25th November saw a 4-2 defeat. This was despite taking the lead in the 1st half through a B. Daus tap in,  and a 2nd half penalty by T. Moore to level the scores at 2-2 with only a few minutes remaining.

In the wind and rain on 2nd December we beat Rusthall 6-1 with a hat trick from T. Moore, 2 from L. Fuller and a 1st goal from S.McMillan. Well done Sam !

9th December we had another win, this time 3-1 at home to Langton Green. Despite a 1st half penalty miss, and thanks to some great defending we managed to beat Langton for the 2nd time this season. Many outstanding performances in this match, but goal of the season so far from L. Fuller with an audacious lob from well outside the box will be the distinct memory from this match.

Last match before Christmas saw an excellent 0-0 draw against high flying Wadhurst on 16th December. Several chances for both teams meant it could have gone either way, but for Invicta we achieved a clean sheet for the first time this season with great defending throughout by a very solid back 4. This was another really good all round team performance with the MOTM award going to J. Bartlett.

New year started with a tough away game at Ringmer, going down 11-0 but MOTM was not for the first time this season J. Banfield.

27th Jan. saw a very comfortable 3-0 win at Langton in the 1st game of the Tournament Shield. A well taken opener from L. Fuller against the run of play got us on the way, and a 2nd half that we dominated saw 2 well taken goals from T. Moore.

3rd Feb saw a 3-3 draw away to Uckfield. Once again great defending  and a good comeback from a 3-1 half time deficit. Goalscorers L. Fuller, T. Farell & T.Moore. MOTM: A. Lucas.

10th Feb. 1-5 away to Rotherfield. Great game played in glorious sunshine. Goalscorer T. Moore. A great all round team effort with only 10 players. MOTM: T. Moore & J. Homewood

24th Feb. 8-3 home win against Matfield (friendly). An emphatic win for the team on a fine spring morning. Goals came from J. Homewood (4), T. Moore, L. Fuller, A. Lucas and an amazing free kick from J. Banfield - the goalie ! Everyone played out of position but did very well.

9th March. 3-2 home win over Uckfield. Great match. MOTM:  A.Lucas. Goalscorers L. Fuller (1), J. Homewood (2).

16th March. Lost 5-2 away to East Peckham. MOTM: J. Bartlett. Goalscorer L. Fuller (2)

13th April. Lost 6-3 away to Wadhurst. MOTM: B. King & T .Moore. Goalscorers: T.Moore, L. Fuller, J. Homewood

20th April. Lost 1-3 home to Ashurstwood. MOTM. B. Daus & J. Purslow. Goalscorer. B. Daus

27th April. Lost 0-8 away to Ringmer. MOTM. J. Banfield, J. Homewood & J. Purslow.

4th May. Lost 3-6 at Rotherfield. MOTM: Whole team for such a great effort throughout the whole season. Goal scorers: J. Homewood, L. Fuller, J. Purslow.
