Goal scorers:

There was never any doubt in mind that this would be a very tough game...

As soon as we arrived I knew the strong wind would have a big impact on the game.

We like to think that we try to play football on the ground and after playing against Westerham earlier in the season their philosophy is similar to ours. Today, with the wind and a fair slope on the pitch, was going to be a bit of a lottery. Throughout the first half neither team played football that was pleasing to the eye and to be fair the wind made this almost impossible. Invicta seemed very lacklustre and in my opinion a few of the boys seemed "uninterested!". I am sure if "WE ALL" concentrated a little more in the pre match warm up instead of acting foolishly we may be ready to play football straight away instead of having to work ourselves into the game. Harsh? Maybe! You decide.....

Invicta did have the better of the first half and were worthy of a 1-0 half time lead (goal courtesy of Kane F). However both teams did have opportunities to add to the first half goal tally, but a lack of sharpness and poor passing where Invicta were concerned kept their score down to just one. I will mention that Kane J had a fine first half with non stop running and closing down the opposition.

Second half followed the same pattern as the first plenty of possession for Invicta but most of it in places where we weren't going to cause any danger!. Westerham were able to break forward due to the ball being lost or a misplaced Invicta pass!... During the first 15 minutes of the second half Kane J scored two goals that his individual performance deserved. 3-0 and for the first time I thought I could relax as the points were in the bag!.or could I? Approximately 10 mins left and Stanley H came flying "OUT" of his area and conceded a free kick that was taken on the penalty spot with no wall!! work that out! I have to say I thought the offence was a long way out the area and was a little surprised when the referee pointed to the spot. Penalty scored 3-1. A defensive error gave Westerham another goal with about 7 minutes left. I think we were all pretty relieved when the final whistle went. We had held on for a good win....

Well done Westerham for a very spirited fight back...

Man of the Match and deservedly so - Kane Joseph
