Palace Guard 2 - 6 Tonbridge Invicta Hurricanes
17th September 2006
Scorers: Ryan Hine 3, Kane Joseph 2, Kane Fairweather
This was the boys introduction to league football and they put in a very impressive display. It took 5 minutes for the boys to come out of their shells and play football.
Palace Guard scored first but Invicta equalised almost immediately through Kane Joseph. 2 more goals followed and at half time Invicta led 3 -1 and were good value for the lead.
After the break Invicta carried on pushing forward and went into a 5 -1 lead. Despite the score line Palace Guard had opportunities but Sam Greehy and Luke Bohanan were superb at the back. Sam’s clean striking of a ball was an asset that often turned defence into attack. Palace Guard scored to make it 5-2 with Invicta scoring the final goal.
Our wide men Keiron Mathew, Elliot Checkley, Ryan Hine defended well when needed as well as pushing forward. Kane Joseph, our striker, pulled his marker all over the pitch unselfishly making room for his team mates to stride into. Kane Fairweather worked tirelessly in midfield.
Stanley Hill was between the posts and his double save in the second half was excellent.
All the team were fantastic as were the parents and relatives on the sidelines.
