Tonbridge Invicta Hurricanes 5 HSBC 1
14th January 2007
Scorers: Kane Fairweather, Kane Joseph, Kieron Matthew, Ryan Hine (2)
Another bright Sunday morning saw us looking to progress further in the league shield.
This, on paper, was to be our toughest game of the season so far. We had been drawn against HSBC from the “C” league whose league position was low, but would never the less give us a very tough game. We had a full strength team and all the boys seemed to be up for the game. The game started at a quick pace with both teams looking to take control early on. Then we started to get on top and after 15 minutes Ryan scored (1-0) it was soon 2-0 when Kane F scored. Invicta remained on top for the rest of the half with Elliott, Ryan and Kieron creating chances from wide positions, one of which led to Ryan’s 2nd goal. Half time 3-0.
Despite the scoreline we needed all our defensive qualities to stop HSBC getting back into the game. Stanley was quick and brave off his line, Luke tackled anything that moved and same tidied up and brought the ball forward.
HSBC started 2nd half brightly and pulled a goal back. This led to 5 minutes of heavy pressure which we, as a team, coped with very well. Kane J had another excellent game up front and got his reward with a goal to make it 4-1. Our other Kane (F) regained control of midfield his driving runs creating chances for the team. Our best goal was our last goal a cracking drive from Kieron sealed the game at 5-1. This was another hardworking performance from the boys. They battled, tackled and also still managed to play neat football that is pleasing for me and Lee to watch.
Man of the match as voted for by the fans was Luke Bohanan
