Tonbridge Invicta Hurricanes 9 v Balgowan 1
Goal scorers:
Ryan Hine 4, Elliot
Checkley 2, Kane Fairweather 2, Kane Joseph.
Over 100 League goals now scored!!!
Back to winning ways with a fine win and plenty of quality goals scored. Only negative aspect (yes I know never happy!!) is that we provided Blagowan with to many goal scoring opportunities for my liking...
We scored straight from the kick of with Sam G passing a long ball over the top to Ryan who beat the advancing goalkeeper, other fine goals followed in the first half, a good long distance strike from Elliot and a backward header from Ryan. Going forward we looked good, defensively we were all over the place and needed Stanley to be at his sharpest. The reason we looked weak defensively was not solely down to the defenders charging forward it was also due to midfielders not tracking back and doing the hard work that needs doing. We must remember that on a pitch we all have jobs to do, what I don't want is for us to be regimented and for defenders only to defend etc but what I do want is if someone breaks forward make sure they have cover or are prepared to get back quickly. Midfielders/strikers once the opposition have the ball we shouldn't need to tell you to get back, face up, goal side etc you should now be doing it instinctively!. We continued to play good football going forward and reached hard time 4-0 up. Balgowan did have chances to score and on some occasions broke clean through with only Stanley to beat but as usual he was up to the challenge.
The second half saw us add 5 more goals. It was especially pleasing to see both Kanes get on the scoresheet in this game as their work rate deserved some reward. Balgowan had the last work with a goal scored right at the end of the match, to be fair for their battling display they deserved it...
All in all a great result, a good performance made better by hearing that Croydon had dropped points...
Still in our hands "Hurricanes" How bad do you all want it?
Man of the Match as voted for by the parents: Kane
Fairweather.
