Weald of Kent receive FA Charter Standard for Schools
Weald of Kent Grammar School, Tonbridge has been awarded FA Charter Standard status. This award is the result of a firm partnership between the school and Tonbridge Invicta Junior FC over the past 3 years.
Richard Powell, (Business Services Director) said, “I am delighted that our partnership with Tonbridge Invicta has been recognised in this way and that we have been able to work closely together to allow the local community as well as our own students to benefit from greater involvement in football through use of our facilities”.
Over the past few years, Tonbridge Invicta have trained mid-week on the school’s floodlit hard court facility as well as playing matches on a newly created pitch from last year. They have also supported the school through providing qualified referees for local tournaments in conjunction with the PE Dept and hope to start a new girl’s football team to be based at the school in 2008.
This coincides with the Weald of Kent U13 girls football team having a very successful run in the Kent Cup where they have been drawn to meet Darrick Wood in the quarter finals.
Invicta’s School Liaison Officer Mark Ansdell said “Invicta, itself a FA Community Charter Club, maintains strong links with a number of local schools, in particular The Weald Of Kent Grammar School. Being awarded the Charter Standard for Schools reflects the forward thinking of the school management and the football Club. This is another platform for Tonbridge Invicta together with The Weald Of Kent to provide quality junior football for boys and girls in the West Kent Area”.
